Holyoke farmer Mike Miller has been named a state winner in the 2013 National Corn Growers Association Corn Yield Contest.
Miller was recognized as one of the top-yielding competitors in the state. He placed first in the no-till/strip-till non-irrigated category with DEKALB DKC52-62 yielding an impressive 120 bushels per acre.
“It’s great to win with a product like DEKALB corn,” said Miller. “It’s not only important to have good seed, but no till, keeping the ground clean and dry fertilizer are also some things I’d recommend. I prefer DEKALB seed because it’s a quality product with good standability, good emergence, and I really just like the way it works. My seed rep does a good job, checks on me throughout the year and helps me reach full potential.”
Thom Simpson, seed lead agronomist at Grainland Co-op, serves as Miller’s seed dealer.
