Pitching shines as Dragons go 1-1 at Burlington PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kyle Arnoldy

Dragon baseball players loaded on to the activities bus for the third straight road doubleheader to open the early season Tuesday, April 1.

While Holyoke has worked to reduce the number of errors they commit, fielding blunders once again proved to be the deciding factor in the first game as HHS fell 6-8 to Burlington.

The Dragons scraped together a much cleaner effort in the second game to split the series, topping the Cougars 4-2.

Burlington had its own difficulty in the field in the top half of the first inning. Three Cougar errors gave way for Holyoke to score the first run of the game as Bradley Cumming crossed home shortly after being walked to start the match.

The Dragons looked poised to put up big numbers in the first inning. With just one out, Holyoke had loaded the bases, but a force out at home and a groundout to end the inning left three runners on base for HHS.

Logan Tharp took the mound for Holyoke to start the game. After the first Cougar batter reached base on balls, three errors by the Dragons and three hits allowed Burlington to take a 5-1 advantage. Three of the runs came in the midst of a two-out rally.
