Holyoke baseball once again matched their opponent over the weekend, winning one and losing one at home to the Caliche Buffs Saturday, April 26.
After dominating the visiting team 14-3 in the first game, Holyoke had the second match slip away, losing 4-7. With the 1-1 weekend record, the Dragons now possess an 11-6 record, and are second in the Lower Platte League at 9-5.
The conference is fairly evenly-paced, other than Sedgwick County who has a safe lead for the top spot in the league. As of Tuesday, April 29, four out of the eight teams have between five-seven conference losses, and Sedgwick County is the only team who has a winning streak, currently riding a 15-game winning stretch.

Dylan Kotch took the mound for the Dragons in the first game of the doubleheader. After hitting the first batter of the game, Kotch picked him off at first and struck out two Buffs, leaving Caliche scoreless in the opening inning.
Holyoke’s first two batters, Bradley Cumming and Trevor Dalton, each singled and advanced to second on outfield errors to begin the game. Cumming scored on Dalton’s hit and Dalton came home on an infield hit by Kotch two batters later.
