Residents at Regent Park invited friends and family to a fiesta Wednesday, July 15, where they enjoyed Mexican food and entertainment. One resident, Ruby Trujillo, has Mexican heritage herself, and was especially pleased with the celebration. A long-time guitar player, Trujillo is pictured below, sharing some of her favorite songs with residents and visitors. She started playing at 7 years old, she said, and knows over 100 songs. Joining Trujillo at the fiesta were several family members, who made up a gathering of four generations. Pictured above, from left, front row are Trujillo and Serina Almeida; and back row, Jean Ruybal and Jeanette Almeida.
Also providing entertainment for the party was the Paquime Folkloric Dance Group, sponsored by Phillips County Arts Council. Members and their instructors performed a number of pieces for the residents, providing an enjoyable and authentic Mexican show. The group’s next performance will be Thursday, July 30 at the HHS old gym.
