Kids to bike to school on Thursday
This Thursday, May 8, is Bike to School Day, encouraged by the Holyoke School District Health Advisory Committee to help students realize the benefits of being active throughout the day, instill safety awareness and foster school spirit.
In addition to riding to and from school, students will ride as a group, with elementary students heading out starting at 2:30 p.m. and high schoolers at 2:50 p.m.
Students featured in art exhibit
Russian-themed artwork from all Holyoke students in grades K-6 is being featured at the Prairie Winds Art Center from May 1-17. The community is invited to a reception for “Kinda Like Russia...” on Monday, May 12, from 6-8 p.m.
Band concert is Tuesday
Holyoke band and jazz band students in grades 7-12 will be performing their spring concert Tuesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. in the HHS auditorium. Bands are under the direction of Miko Martinez.
Citywide cleanup set for next week
A citywide cleanup for Holyoke residents will take place next week. All items must be placed in the alley prior to 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, with pickup continuing Wednesday-Thursday, May 14-15.
Items picked up include metal, concrete, branches, furniture and appliances, as well as tires and electronics for a fee. Contact City of Holyoke at 970-854-2266 for more info.
