|34 Dragons ready for graduation this Sunday|

Another set of Dragons have completed their journey at Holyoke High School, with 34 excited seniors set to receive their diplomas at graduation this Sunday, May 11, at 2 p.m. in the HHS gym.
Holyoke School Superintendent Bret Miles will welcome students, family and friends at Sunday’s graduation, with the HHS Class of 2014 presented by Principal Susan Ortner.
Scholarships and plans will be announced by counselor Summer Maloney, while school board members Kim Killin and Jon King will hand out diplomas as the seniors cross the graduation stage.
Addresses by the class valedictorian and salutatorian will be given at the ceremony. Those students will be announced Friday, May 9, when final grades are due for the seniors.
Class president Alan Madrid will also be speaking Sunday when he gives the farewell.
Citizenship award winners will be recognized by Jim Gribben and Susan Roll Walters of American Legion Post 90 and its Auxiliary.
The commencement ceremony will feature music performances, including “Gone, Gone, Gone” by the HHS choir and “Wake Me Up” by the HHS select choir, both under the direction of Marcia Dalton.
The HHS band will perform “Selections from the Motion Picture Les Miserables,” directed by guest conductor Pat Wiebers.
Members of the Class of 2014 are Wyatt Thomas Bishop, Jasmine Nicole Conde, Trevor Douglas Dalton, Federica Detomas, Susana Dominguez Moreno, Raquel Galvan, Brenda Esmerelda Hernandez Ramirez, Taneesha Marie Huffman, Ashley Dawn Humphreys, Andrew Scott Kent, Alyssa Morgan Killin.
Madison Lanee King, Kelsey Morgan Kramer, Ryan Matthew Krogmeier, Jacinda Karla Krueger, Shaylee Rochelle Krueger, Zuri Yadira Lopez, Alan Javier Madrid Quintana, Malena Rae McWilliams, Krystal Medina, Debby Yadeht Mendoza, Fidel Arturo Montes.
Ryan Eric Parker, Aracely Aimee Peña, Eva Leticia Penzing, Brittney Lee Prottsman, Luis Antonio Quintana, Saul Ramos Jr., Zachary Hayden Roll, Tanner Lee Smith, Makayla Shae Spitz, Meg Lauren Strauss, Logan Taylor Tharp and Jacob Phillip Vasa.
The Class of 2014’s motto is “Keepin’ it Classy” and “If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough,” by Lowell Lundstrum. Class colors are teal and black, and the flower is the ranunculus.
Senior members of National Honor Society are Trevor Dalton, Ashley Humphreys, Jacinda Krueger, Eva Penzing, Tanner Smith, Makayla Spitz, Meg Strauss and Logan Tharp.
Assisting with the graduation ceremony are junior class grand marshals Rosa Ochoa and Tito Fierro, as well as ushers Taylor Goldenstein, Megan Vieselmeyer, Dylan Kotch and Wyatt Powell.
Baccalaureate is at 1 p.m. Sunday
A baccalaureate service will precede graduation, beginning at 1 p.m. in the HHS auditorium, coordinated by Holyoke Ministerial Alliance. Pastors Al Strauss, Merle Powell and Chad Rozelle will be speaking at the service, with Strauss delivering the main message. Vocalist Eva Penzing and pianist Pat Wiebers will provide music.
