|Trooper Tips—Move over to keep roadsides safe|
|Written by Trooper Josiah Ii|
As we kick off summer and the heightened travel season, it seems like an appropriate time to remind people about the “Move Over” law.
Already this year there have been 22 Colorado State Patrol vehicles struck. This number has already surpassed the total number of 19 for 2013. You may have noticed the current trend of #MoveOver in the news or on social media. The message is simple and it saves lives.
When you are approaching an emergency vehicle with lights flashing on the side of the road, you must move over to the adjacent lane if possible, and if not possible then you must reduce and maintain a safe speed in regard to the location of the stationary emergency vehicle. This law also includes tow carriers and highway maintenance vehicles.
