Following the softball and baseball teams that began their summer seasons in late May, the youngest group of summer ball players hit the field Wednesday, June 4 for the start of the T-ball and machine pitch season.
Roughly 34 kids ages 5-7 make up the Holyoke teams with 14 out for T-ball and 20 for machine pitch.
Kendra Schlachter has taken over head coaching duties for the third year. Zach Churchwell, Chandler Gerk and Kaitlyn Lenhart all help on occasion as well.
The three-week season has the kids competing in Holyoke in all but two of the eight dates. When at home, the teams will split up to play each other and when on the road, the team will combine all of the kids to face their opponent. T-ball games are played first, followed by machine pitch games an hour later.
