|County Treasurer sends delinquent tax notices|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
The Phillips County Treasurer’s Office mailed delinquent taxes notices last week. County Treasurer Linda L. Statz said she printed them with August interest amounts.
If anyone pays their taxes in a different month, they need to contact the treasurer’s office for the correct amount due. Interest of one percent per month is added on the first day of each month.
In mid-October, advertising fees will also be added. If not paid by Dec. 8, a tax lien will be sold against the property so the schools, hospitals, cemetery district, towns, county, etc. can receive the money they expected and budgeted.
Statz asked that people notify her office if their addresses change because double mailing is expensive.
The treasurer’s office is currently installing new software while continuing to keep up with the old software for a system of checks and balances until the new system runs smoothly. The new software is the same company as the assessor’s software which should eliminate tax roll conversion problems.
