A new hairdo can make one feel on top of the world, and Eva Grothman has been doing that for residents of the local nursing home for 24 years.
“You just get to love every one of them,” Grothman said last week as she started her day in the beauty shop located in the Carriage House side of Regent Park Nursing & Rehab.
With beauty shop hours every Wednesday and Thursday, Grothman sees roughly 25 residents a week.
Weekly shampoos and sets are normal routine, with haircuts, perms and color factored in when requested. The beauty shop is licensed only for residents of Regent Park and Carriage House, and it keeps Grothman busy for the two days she’s there.
“Eva gives everyone a little build-up in morale,” said Carriage House resident Betty Kleve. “It just makes you feel better when you get your hair done.”
Well acquainted with her clients, Grothman walks to their rooms to tell them when she’s ready for them. Kleve said Grothman is very accommodating in working around the residents’ schedules.
