Joyce Lundgren - November 24, 2009
Joyce Irene Lundgren, age 72, of Haxtun, died after seven years of Alzheimer’s disease Nov. 24, 2009 in Haxtun.
Joyce was born Aug. 23, 1937 in Haxtun to Lawrence (Swede) and Pauline (Cheramy) Sullivan. She attended schools in Paoli and Haxtun High School. Joyce and her twin sister Jeanette were the baton twirlers for the Haxtun High School band.
On Dec. 11, 1955, she married Harold C. Lundgren at Paoli Methodist Church. Together they worked and farmed in Logan, Phillips and Yuma counties. Joyce drove the truck in harvest and drove the tractors during the season. She was always the parts runner.
She was a member of the Wages and Haxtun Methodist Church.
She loved to spend time outdoors manicuring her yard and rose bushes.
Joyce was very talented with sewing, stained glass and her last hobby of making porcelain dolls. Joyce collected several Precious Moments and John Deere figurines.
Joyce loved her children, grandchildren and never missed their sporting events and other school activities. She loved to plan the yearly trips to the craft and doll shows with her two daughters and help her two sons with their farming.
Preceding her in death are her parents Lawrence (Swede) and Pauline Sullivan, mother- and father-in-law Carl and Marie Lundgren, son-in-law Randy Huwa, nephew Doug Hinde and brother-in-law Melvin Lundgren.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold; daughter Cindy and husband Dennis Wagner of Iliff; son Damon Lundgren of Haxtun; son Greg Lundgren and Amy of Haxtun; daughter Lisa and husband Stan Whitaker of Greeley; grandchildren Sara and Mark Grauberger of Sterling, Jessica Lundgren of Severance, Derek and Courtney Lundgren of Haxtun, Kristyn, Ryan and Jared Wagner of Iliff, Brittany and Austin Lundgren of Albuquerque, N.M. and Carly, Peyton and Emma Whittaker of Greeley; one great-grandson, Max Grauberger of Sterling; sisters Phyllis and husband Clyde Einspahr and Jeanette and husband Wilbur Hinde; brother-in-law Lyle Lundgren; and sister-in-law Marietta Lundgren.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 28 at Haxtun United Methodist Church with Pastor Keith Hudiburgh officiating. Interment followed at the Haxtun Cemetery.
