Lillian Lappart - May 22, 2010
Lillian May Lappart, 85, of Holyoke was born May 1, 1925 in St. Joseph, Mo. to Walter and Mildred (Knowles) Ashlock. She died May 22, 2010 in Holyoke.
Visitation for Lillian was sheduled for Wednesday, May 26 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at Gerk Funeral Home in Holyoke.
The funeral service was scheduled for Thursday, May 27 at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church in Holyoke with Pastor Lou Encinias officiating, with interment to follow at Holyoke Cemetery.
She grew up in St. Joseph and in 1943 moved to Colorado. Lillian married John Paul Lappart April 2, 1945 in St. Francis, Kan. They were blessed with four children: Karrol, John, Paula and Elizabeth Gail.
The family lived at the four-mile farm near Holyoke where they farmed and raised dairy cows. Lillian also helped take care of Grandma and Grandpa Lappart.
In 1970, they moved to town. Lillian was a housewife and in 1967, she earned her degree to become an LPN and worked at the nursing home and hospital in Holyoke.
She enjoyed watching and feeding birds, painting ceramics, knitting, doing jigsaw puzzles, fishing and sewing. As a younger woman, she was active in several women’s clubs. She was also a member of First Christian Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Paul; daughter, Paula; and brother, Buddy.
Surviving are her children, Karrol Heck and husband Ronnie of Haxtun, John Lappart of Holyoke and Elizabeth Gail Knutson and husband Jeff of Fort Collins; grandchildren, Mike Borland, Dee Ann Odell, Shawn Borland, Cindy Maddock, Brian Kelly, Chris Kelly and Jessica Knutson; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gerk Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
