Jeri Cranwell - June 27, 2010Geraldine “Jeri” Clara Cranwell, 85, of Greeley, was born March 15, 1925 to J. Glen and Clara May (Unzicker) Wilcox in Kearney, Neb. She died June 27, 2010 at Life Care Center in Greeley.
Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, June 30, 4-7 p.m. Funeral service was scheduled for Thursday, July 1 at 10 a.m. at Hillside Baptist Church, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Jeri grew up in Lamar, Neb. and graduated from Phillips County High School in Holyoke. At the age of 17, she moved to Denver and attended Success Business College. After completing the program, she returned to Holyoke, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Scheunemann’s Department Store.
She married LeRoy Cranwell on March 16, 1947 in Holyoke. After marriage, they moved to Commerce City where her husband attended barber school. They moved to Greeley in the mid 1950s. She was the secretary to the superintendent for Weld School District 6. Upon leaving this position in 1963, she took over School District 6 Credit Union (now Weld Schools Credit Union). She was responsible for its steady growth until her retirement in 1990 as president and manager.
After retirement, she and her husband traveled. She also enjoyed shopping trips, and looking for bargains. Family time was important to her, especially time spent with her grandchildren and their activities.
Mrs. Cranwell was an active member of Hillside Baptist Church. She taught the Ruth Sunday School Class. She had also served as the secretary and sang in the choir. She was involved in numerous bridge clubs, she volunteered at the Union Colony Civic Center and also volunteered as an election judge. She was very active in CUNA (Credit Unions of North America) and spoke at many conventions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; and brother, Donald Wilcox.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin Cranwell and Kyle Cranwell and wife Mary Ann, all of Greeley; daughter, Kimberly Norwood and husband Rob of Greeley; grandchildren, Erich and Mallory Cranwell, Christian Dick and Tyler Norwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
