Dormand Gaunt - September 30, 2010

Dormand E. Gaunt, 77, was born Dec. 11, 1932 in Cozad, Neb. to Hazel and DeWayne Gaunt. He died peacefully Sept. 30, 2010 at his home in Greeley.

He spent his childhood on the family farm three miles northeast of Holyoke. He enlisted in the Marines and was a decorated Korean War veteran. Dormand served as a deputy sheriff in Phillips County for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and DeWayne Gaunt; son, Danney Eugene Gaunt; sister, Valetta Adams; and baby brother, Don Leon Gaunt.

He is survived by his son, David Lee Gaunt of Greeley; grandson, Dustin Ray Gaunt and his children, Tyler and Jayden; granddaughter, Breanna Gaunt of Greeley; sisters, Diana Erhart of Sun City, Calif. and Joann MacKey of Cheyenne, Wyo; and many nieces and nephews.

After cremation, his ashes will be scattered. A private celebration of his life will be held by his family at a later date.
