Lynn Guernsey - October 07, 2010
Lynn Bradley Guernsey, 61, died and was welcomed into the arms of his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on Oct. 7, 2010.
He was born Jan. 18, 1949 in Sterling to Clifford and Ilene (Thatcher) Guernsey. A terrible blizzard was raging at this time and many expectant mothers had to be airlifted to the hospital. Clifford knew that their car would never be able to make it through the drifts, so he borrowed a truck and arrived at Logan County Hospital just in time for Lynn to make his appearance.
Lynn’s early years were spent with his older sister, Ganita Budd (of Ozark, Mo.), and his big brother, Charles LeRoy Guernsey (recently deceased, of Broken Bow, Neb.).
On Aug. 10, 1958 he was baptized at Holyoke Christian Church. Lynn attended Holyoke Elementary School. The family then moved to the Denver area. He graduated from Adams City High School in 1967.
He then attended Platte Valley Bible College in Scottsbluff, Neb. There he met Helen King, and they were married Nov. 28, 1968. God endowed this union with the five biggest blessings of Lynn’s life: Michael Lynn Guernsey of Kansas City, Kan., Christine Marie Stephenson of Forney, Texas, Rebecca Sue Oberle of Holyoke, Rachel Anne Moore of Fruita and Vallie Deborah Doyle of Fruita.
Lynn faithfully served his country in the United States Army from January 1969 to February 1973 in Vietnam. It was there he earned a Bronze Star for bravery.
He is much loved and will be missed.
Lynn’s funeral service was held Oct. 9 at First Christian Church in Holyoke, with interment following at Holyoke Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynn Guernsey Memorial Fund, c/o Baucke Funeral Home, 1220 SW Interocean Dr., Holyoke, CO 80734.
Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
