Yesenia Coronado - March 08, 2011
Yesenia “Yesi” Coronado, 18, was born Dec. 3, 1992 in El Paso, Texas. She died as the result of a tragic vehicle accident March 8, 2011 between St. Francis, Kan. and Haigler, Neb.
Yesi moved to Holyoke when she was in the third grade. She was a member of the Class of 2011, looking forward to graduating and entering college in the fall.
At Holyoke High School, she was involved in the student leadership class, was a member of FBLA and this year was practicing with the track team.
She mentored a local fourth-grader at Holyoke Elementary and was working with children at Phillips County Family Education Services. She also worked for a time at Holyoke Marketplace as a cashier and carry-out.
Yesi shared her artistic talent by helping with prom and float decorating projects.
Friendly to everyone, Yesi will be missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Yesenia Ivette Coronado.
She is survived by her mother, Gloria Varela of Holyoke; father, Ramón Coronado of Arizona; fiancé, José Rivera; sisters, Gloria Quintana and husband Jorge of Holyoke and Ivette Varela of Holyoke; brother, Edgar Carbajal and wife Amanda of Imperial, Neb.; nephews and nieces, Jorge Quintana Jr., Alejandro Quintana, Eduardo Quintana, Edgar Alexis Carbajal, Dallana Carbajal and Ariana Carbajal; and many cousins and friends.
A rosary service was held March 13 at Baucke Funeral Home in Holyoke, with Funeral Mass conducted at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Holyoke March 14. Burial followed at Holyoke Cemetery.
Baucke Funeral Home of Holyoke was in charge of arrangements.
