Delmar Pittman - May 04, 2011


Delmar Lee Pittman was born June 14, 1939 to Paul Eugene and Leila Belle (Millis) Pittman in Sandusky, Ohio. He died May 4, 2011 at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke at the age of 71.

Delmar attended school and graduated from the 12th grade. He married Catherine Arlene (Robinson) Pittman on Oct. 26, 1958 in Sandusky, Ohio. To this union four children were born: Delbert, Paul, Cris and Candice. Catherine died July 23, 2004.

Delmar was in the United States Army. He served with C Company 43rd Engineer Battalion and was sent to Honduras where he was injured while serving his country in an overseas operation related to the Iran-Contra Affair.

Along with serving his country in the Army, he also worked as a carpenter, roofer, truck driver and store clerk. He really enjoyed hunting, along with the great outdoors.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Leila Pittman; and his wife, Catherine Arlene Pittman.

He is survived by his son, Delbert Pittman and wife Maria, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; son, Paul Pittman, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; son, Cris Pittman and wife Tammy, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and daughter, Candice Tenczar; along with many other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held May 9 at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke with Pastor Max Hines officiating. The graveside service was held May 10 at the Holyoke Cemetery in Holyoke.

Baucke Funeral Home of Holyoke directed the services.
