Ron Petersen - June 07, 2011
Ronald Eugene Petersen was born March 13, 1943 to Kermit and Myrtle (Welton) Petersen in Holyoke. He died June 7, 2011 in Greeley.
Ron graduated from Holyoke High School in 1961. He worked for several years as a linotype setter for the Holyoke Enterprise and later for the newspaper in North Platte, Neb.
Ron had a true passion for car racing and planes. At one time, he raced stock cars in and around the Holyoke area. He was a war history buff and always looked forward to getting more facts. He volunteered at Old Threshers in Yuma for many years.
Ron had three children from a previous marriage: Cindy Lee, Michael Kirk and Eric Wayne.
On March 13, 1976 he married his best friend and soul mate, Kathy Aydelott. They celebrated their 35th anniversary in March of 2011.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Myrtle Petersen; an infant sister, Patricia Joyce; father-in-law, Lester Aydelott; sister-in-law, Sharrie Ellis; nephews, Brandon Lenhart and Tyler Waln; and niece, Taylor Bahn-sen.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Petersen of Yuma; daughter, Cindy Wilson and husband Rob of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sons, Michael Petersen of Wiggins and Eric Petersen of Holyoke; sisters, Janice Hibbard and husband Mike of Holyoke, Teresa Waln and husband Dan of Holyoke and Linda Bahnsen and husband Steve of Haxtun; mother-in-law, Nona Aydelott of Yuma; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Aydelott of Otis, Stanley Aydelott of Yuma, Terry Aydelott of Haxtun and Willard Ellis of Holyoke; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The memorial service was held June 10 at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Yuma and inurnment was in the Yuma Cemetery.
Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
