George Newton - June 26, 2011

George J. Newton, age 93, of Holyoke, was born Nov. 19, 1917 to George F. and Nellie (Jones) Newton in Regent, N.D. He died June 26, 2011 in Holyoke.

George lived in North Dakota until he was 5 years old. He and his family moved to Alma Center, Wis. where they had a family dairy farm.

After graduating from Alma Center High School, he married Jean Ellen Comstock on June 10, 1944. He then started his own dairy in California and Colorado, and in between managed dairies for others in these states. George was active on the dairy in Holyoke until he retired.

George had been active in the Methodist Church in Wisconsin and California, where he taught Sunday school and was also in the choir. He was a director for the Brown Swiss Breeders of California.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Newton; and sons, Kenneth Newton and Richard Newton, all of Holyoke.

Following George’s wishes, there will be no services for him.
