Brandon Schwindt - July 12, 2011
Brandon Scott Schwindt, 36, of Sterling, was born Nov. 19, 1974 in Fort Morgan and died June 12, 2011 in Sterling.
Brandon attended school in Fort Morgan before moving to Holyoke where he graduated from Holyoke High School in 1993. He attended Morgan Community College where he earned his associate degree. He then moved to Denver and led a happy, productive life until the symptoms of his illness challenged him and brought him back to northeast Colorado to be close to his family.
Brandon lost his life to a major mental illness that haunted him, and those who loved him, throughout much of his adult life. Brandon struggled with the demons of his illness but will be remembered as bright, shy, loving and competent by all who really knew him and understood the challenges he faced in life.
Brandon and others like him lived in the shadows of the real world, sometimes finding peace, yet oftentimes isolating themselves as they dealt with their illness. Let us be hopeful that he at least found the peace in passing which was so elusive to him in living.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Schwindt.
He is survived by his mother, Connie Krieg; brother, Jason Schwindt of Greeley; sisters, Rhiannon Heinitz of Castle Rock and Lacie Mese-Kucinski of Elizabeth; loving nieces and nephew, Isabelle, Jorja and Caleb Heinitz; and stepfamily, Darrel, Kameron and Jeremy Krieg.
At Brandon’s request, there will be no formal service. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
