Raella Poos - August 26, 2011


Raella Belle (Hageman) Poos, 88, died Aug. 26, 2011 at the Loveland Good Samaritan Village. She was born March 27, 1923 in Holyoke to Ray and Luella (Kohrell) Hageman.

Raella was the third of six daughters. She was baptized May 6, 1923 and confirmed April 5, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke. Raella was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Loveland.

On April 4, 1940 in McCook, Neb., she became the bride of Emden Poos of Amherst. Raella and Emden began their lifelong career in farming in the Holyoke community.

She was very active in her church ladies group and their children’s school and church activities. She was always there to lend a helping hand. She raised a large garden and chickens and helped with harvests. She always prepared an excellent hot meal for the harvest crews.

Raella enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, baking and working jigsaw puzzles. She made quilts, afghans and tablecloths for her family. She baked and decorated many wedding cakes and especially enjoyed doing the ones for her grandchildren.

Raella and Emden enjoyed playing bridge and pinnacle, dancing and spending time at their cabin in the Poudre Canyon fishing and doing crafts. They enjoyed many winters of retirement in Truth or Consequences, N.M. In 1993 they made their home in Loveland.

Raella is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Dennis Isakson of Van Tassell, Wyo.; son Larry and wife Jeanette Poos of Holyoke; six grandchildren Andrew and wife Chris Isakson of Highlands Ranch, John and wife Melissa Isakson of Cummings, Ga., Julie and husband Mark Ferguson of Imperial, Neb., Matthew and wife Rhonda Isakson of Levittown, N.Y., Deborah and husband Justin Phinney of Gill and Isaiah and wife Erica Isakson of Mead; 16 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Oron Schmidt of Thermopolis, Wyo.; and sister-in-law Ruth Pillard of Greeley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Emden Poos; parents Ray and Luella Hageman; sisters Lois Artman, Dorothy Elder, LaVaun Schmidt and infant sisters Phyllis Hageman and Laurene Hageman.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Loveland. Viewing was Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Viegut Funeral Home. Burial was at Holyoke Cemetery.
