Mona Bryant - December 17, 2011

Mona Lee (Chandler) Bryant, age 83, of Holyoke was born June 16, 1928 in Anderson, Mo. to Ray Paul and Nora Opal (Beeson) Chandler. She died Dec. 17, 2011 in Holyoke.

She grew up in Holyoke and graduated from Phillips County High School in 1947. She worked at the Gambles store (now Deaver Hardware) before meeting her husband Alfred Lee Bryant and moving to Bend, Ore.

They were married for more than 61 years and had two sons, Leon Dell and Roger Dale. They lived in Mill City, Bend, Salem, Grants Pass and Elgin, Ore. until settling in La Grande, Ore. to start their own business.

Mona helped operate their family business, Seely’s Radiator Service, by keeping the books and dispatching their tow trucks. They eventually moved the business to Hermiston, Ore. where they operated it until they retired to Yuma, Ariz.

Mona enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. She was a member of First Christian Church of Holyoke.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Ray and Opal; husband, Alfred Lee; son, Leon Dell; sisters, Hope Chandler Emery and Mildred Chandler Saylor; and brothers, Wendyl and Wayne Chandler.

She is survived by her son, Roger Dale and wife Brenda of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Dale and Dusty of Reno, Jenny of Milton-Freewater, Ore., Gary of Pendleton, Ore. and Sherry of Spring, Texas; four great -grandchildren and great-great-grandchild; sisters, Bonnie Chandler Hogsett of Haxtun and Myra Chandler Sherwood of Holyoke; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church in Holyoke with Pastor Merle Powell officiating. Interment was set to follow in the Holyoke Cemetery.
