Harold Lundgren - February 01, 2012


Harold Carl Lund­gren, age 76, of Haxtun, died Feb. 1, 2012 in Loveland. Harold was born May 25, 1935 in Haxtun to Carl and Marie (Wengert) Lundgren.

He attended schools in Haxtun and graduated from Haxtun High School. Harold loved to play high school football, ride his motorcycle and chase girls.

On Dec. 11, 1955, he married Joyce Sullivan at Paoli Methodist Church. Together they farmed and ranched in the local area. Up until his death he enjoyed running the family farm he established with his sons. Harold was also a caring father for his daughters as they were growing up.

He loved to fix and restore antique tractors, attend local sales and drive into town for a cup of coffee with friends. Harold loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed every day. “We put your cell phone beside you so you are only a phone call away.” His family will always remember “nothing runs like a John Deere.”

Preceding him in death were his wife of 53 years, Joyce; parents, Carl and Marie Lundgren; step-father, Frank Freemyer; father- and mother-in-law, Laurence (Swede) and Pauline Sullivan; brother, Melvin Lundgren; sister, Lois Marie Lundgren; son-in-law, Randy Huwa; and nephew, Doug Hinde.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Cindy Wagner and husband Dennis of Iliff; son, Damon of Haxtun; son, Greg and Amy of Haxtun; daughter, Lisa Whittaker and husband Stan of Greeley; grandchildren, Kristyn and Jeff Stromberger of Iliff, Ryan and Jared Wagner of Iliff, Sara and Mark Grauberger of Sterling, Jessica and Mike Werner of Severance, Derek and Courtney Lundgren of Haxtun, Brittany and Austin Lundgren of Albuquerque and Carly, Peyton and Emma Whittaker of Greeley; two great-grandsons, Max and Mason Grauberger of Sterling; brother, Lyle Lundgren; sister-in-law, Marietta Lundgren; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Einspahr and husband Clyde and Jeanette Hinde and husband Wilbur.

The funeral service was held Feb. 6 at Haxtun United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Haxtun Cemetery.
