Jan Smith - February 13, 2012
Janet “Jan” Smith, 67, of Colorado Springs, died Feb. 13, 2012 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
She was a long-time employee of the Pikes Peak Library District where she worked as a library technician. Her illness forced her to retire in 2008 after more than 20 years of service.
Jan was the daughter of Giles and Hazel Kise. She graduated from Madison High School in Minnesota and attended Augustana College in South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-nephew.
Jan is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Paul and Mike and wife Kasie; and grandson, Jack.
Jan tremendously enjoyed working at the library and being able to spend time in downtown Colorado Springs. She loved her ability to be able to sing in the choir at First Lutheran Church, was an avid reader and an even more avid Broncos fan.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, Feb. 17 from 4-7 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Ave. in Colorado Springs.
The memorial service for Jan will be held Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1515 North Cascade Ave. in Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
