Leona Mason - February 02, 2012
Leona Mason, 89, of Holyoke, died Feb. 2, 2012 in Casa Grande, Ariz. Leona was born July 13, 1922 in Arickaree to Elizabeth Heinzle Fussenegger and John Fussenegger.
She graduated from Cope High School and attended the University of Northern Colorado. On March 4, 1944, she married William J. Mason. Following World War II, they moved to Holyoke in April of 1947 and started Bill’s Radio and TV, which they operated for more than 35 years.
Leona was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and later attended the Baptist and Methodist churches.
Leona was active as a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, FHA chapter mother and Sunday School teacher. She was an avid gardener and an excellent cook and seamstress. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed traveling, and they spent 15 winters in Casa Grande, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Mason; and her brother, Richard Fussenegger.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Hogsett and Alice Parkin and husband Douglas, all of Casa Grande; four grandchildren, Bryan Hogsett and wife Amy of Evans, Brent Hogsett and wife Julie of Greeley, Sterling Parkin and wife Jennifer of Glendale, Ariz. and Amy Kiefling and husband Steve of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held June 2 at First United Methodist Church of Holyoke. Final resting place is in the Holyoke Cemetery.
