Glenda Krueger - September 23, 2012

Glenda Ruth (Martin) Krueger, 77, died and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 23, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb. She was born Dec. 24, 1934 in a ranch home in Colorado in the Pleasant Valley community. She was the second of three daughters born to Glen and Ruth Martin.

Glenda attended grade school at Pleasant Valley Country School. She attended high school at Phillips County High School, graduating with honors.

Glenda married William Krueger on Aug. 10, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. They farmed and operated a Grade A dairy near Amherst, which then moved to the farm near the Colorado/Nebraska state line. Bill and Glenda and their family moved to a ranch near Cody, Neb. in 1978. In 2001, they moved to a log home near Sparks, Neb. She and Bill had recently moved to their retirement home in Valentine, Neb.

Glenda and Bill had six children, 16 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William of Valentine; and children, Mary Carollo and husband Bert of Colorado Springs, Dennis of Valentine, Tim and wife Tammy of Norden, Neb., Kerry and wife Lisa of Valentine and Bill and wife Teena of Valentine. She leaves behind many more family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen; mother, Ruth; sisters, Jacqueline Mitchell and Barbara Banaka; and son, Robert.

The love and joy of her life was her extended family. She was active in Amherst with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ladies Aid and as a Sunday School teacher. She had been an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church since moving to the Valentine area.

A family prayer service was held Sept. 28 at Chapel of the Pines. The funeral service was held Sept. 29 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.

Memorials may be made in her name to Our Savior Lutheran Church for scholarships for local students to attend Concordia Lutheran College in Seward, Neb. or to The Lutheran Hour.
