Eleanor Lininger - December 20, 2012
Eleanor Rose Lininger of Holyoke was born Nov. 28, 1921 in Holyoke to George and Nellie Rodebush Weis. She died Dec. 20, 2012 at the age of 91.
Eleanor was raised and educated in Holyoke. She met Kenneth Lininger while he was working for Foster Lumber Co. They were united in marriage in Julesburg Aug. 8, 1938. They moved to Missouri and California before settling on their homestead southeast of Holyoke. They made their home there until 1951 when they moved to a farm southwest of Amherst.
In 1988, they moved their home into Holyoke where they were happily married for 56 years before Kenneth died. She continued farming and living in her home until her final days.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include son, Donald and wife Charlene of Holyoke; daughters, Louise Krueger and husband Darrel of Holyoke, Shirley Tarrant and husband Tom of Haxtun and Debra Smith and husband Don of Bettendorf, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at Gerk Funeral Home in Holyoke at 2 p.m. Inurnment was set to follow at the Holyoke Cemetery.
