Maynard Lange - February 09, 2013
Maynard Henry Lange, 89, of Holyoke, formerly of Ovid, Sterling and Denver, died Feb. 9, 2013 in Holyoke. Maynard was born May 19, 1923 in Diller, Neb., the son of John and Sophie (Knuppel) Lange.
Maynard married Wilma Thompson at the State Line Lutheran Church in Hollenberg, Kan. on Nov. 25, 1943. He farmed before going to work for the Colorado State Highway Maintenance in Sterling, Ovid and Denver. He retired from Denver as foreman in 1983.
Maynard was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Julesburg. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, took great pleasure in keeping his lawn thick and green and spent hours restoring Model T’s.
Maynard was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; father, John Lange; mother, Sophie Lange; infant sister, Janet; sisters, Delah Sporhase and Albert, Loretta Sporhase and Elmer and Lorene Bethke and Harold; sister-in-law, Doris Lange; and great-grandson, Zachary Lange.
Maynard is survived by his son, Bill and wife Sandy of Douglas, Wyo.; daughter, Janet Bothwell and husband Paul of Boston, Mass.; son, Ellory of Holyoke; brother, Walter of Blue Springs, Neb.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and special friend, Geraldine Zorn.
Visitation was scheduled for 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home in Julesburg. Funeral services were scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Julesburg with Pastor Trent Christensen officiating. Interment was set to follow at the Ovid cemetery.
