Lois Kipp - July 05, 2013

Lois Evelyn (Carnes) Kipp was born to Frank E. and Evelyn C. Carnes June 10, 1929, in Haxtun and died July 5, 2013, in Haxtun.

Lois was the third daughter of Frank and Evelyn Carnes. She grew up on a farm southeast of Haxtun. She and her sisters rode Shetland ponies and drove a surrey to Philorado country school for eight years. Lois graduated from Haxtun High School in 1947 and worked at the Haxtun Community Bank for four years.

She married her high school sweetheart, Wilbur Kipp, on June 19, 1948. Lois was baptized into Christ as an infant and joined the Methodist Church in 1940. After marrying, she accepted triune immersion and joined Haxtun Church of the Brethren, where she served as a church organist and pianist, taught Sunday School, served in Women’s Fellowship and enjoyed quilting.

Lois was the epitome of a Christian servant, working alongside her husband on the farm, milking, branding, hauling bales, raising chickens, hogs and cattle, canning and freezing, serving meals in the field and so much more. She was a loving and devoted mother who raised two daughters, Denise Yvette and Doreen Yvonne; and two sons, Brian Wilbur and Darin Lynn. Lois and Wilbur retired from farming and moved to Haxtun in 1986.

Over the years, Lois belonged to the Victory Federated Club, Home Extension Club, Heritage Quilters and Haxtun Community Auxiliary and served extensively as a Lioness in the Haxtun, District 6-E and Colorado State Lions Club when Wilbur was a Lions district governor. Her hobbies through the years included crafting leaded glass pieces such as nativities and sun catchers and knitting.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Doreen Yvonne; grandson, Daniel Charles Everhart; sisters, Ellen June Carnes Lambert and Esther Carnes Mastin; and parents Frank E. Carnes and Evelyn C. Bricker Carnes.

She is survived by a grateful family including her husband, Wilbur; daughter, Denise Everhart and husband Charles and their children Chad Everhart and Charla Everhart Lum and husband Kevin; son, Brian Kipp and wife Cindy and their children Lindsay and Whitney Kipp; and son, Darin Kipp and wife Katherine and their children Sabra, Dara Lane and step-grandson Brandon Ogier.
