Bob Henry - August 26, 2009
Robert Dixon Henry, 73, of Haxtun, died Aug. 26, 2009 in Haxtun. He was born July 18, 1936 to Robert L. and Ruth (Schrader) Henry in Sterling.
Bob married Sally Berg Nov. 17, 1957 and they were blessed with five children.
He had an interesting life with a variety of occupations and he was great at all of them. He was a cowboy, owned a mink ranch, farmed, delivered milk. He kept bees (and made the best honey), owned a concrete and construction company, was an electrician for the town of Haxtun and then the County Weed and Pest District Supervisor.
After he “retired,” Bob helped his son build a successful ready-mix concrete business. His favorite job was being a husband, dad and grandpa.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Haxtun, and a 20-year member of the Haxtun Volunteer Fire Department.
Bob loved beekeeping, fishing, gardening, hunting with the best dog in the world Belle, teasing and teaching his grandchildren. He was also an avid Broncos and Rockies fan. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years Sally Henry; sons Bob and wife Penny of Fort Lupton and Brian and wife Lyn of Hutchinson, Kan.; daughters Susan Hinck of Haxtun, Janet Kohl and husband Alan of Hays, Kan. and Amy Robinson and husband Seen of Santa Monica, Calif.; brothers Guy and wife Dorothy, Pat Henry and wife Patricia, Mike Henry and wife Pati and Kayo Henry and wife Hyong Ok; and sisters Sylvia Thompson and Betty Jo Sandstead and husband Mike.
Bob is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Joshua Stein and wife Jessica, Lisa Henry, Cristin Morgan and husband Jay, Zachary Henry, Jennifer Hayes and husband Lucas, Rikki Henry and fiance Cory Price, Katie Andersen and husband Billy, Kaleb Hinck, Alec Kohl, Rebecca Kohl, Tisha Estep, Deven Wood and Charilyn Jackson and 14 great-grandchildren, Tessa Henry, Jasmine, Liam and Asher Stein, Ethan and Erin Andersen, Kailar, Anna, Sarah and Lucy Hayes, Rachell Morgan, Chevie Henry and Myael and JJ Estep.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Nickolas Robert Henry.
Rosary was Aug. 28 at Gerk Funeral Home in Haxtun. Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 29 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in rural Fleming. Interment followed in the St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Haxtun Hospital District’s Cancer Fund or Haxtun Volunteer Fire Department.
