Dale Anderson - September 05, 2009
Dale Eugene Anderson, age 82, of Holyoke, died Sept. 5, 2009 in Holyoke.
Dale was born to Ralph L. and Hazel (Ferral) Anderson Jan. 18, 1927 in Holyoke. He was one of six children that the family was blessed with. Dale attended and graduated from the Holyoke schools.
He served in the Army from Sept. 29, 1950-Sept. 30, 1952 in the occupation forces in Germany. Upon returning home he carried mail for the local post office for 30 years before retiring.
Dale gave many hours of service and time to many different organizations without compensation. He served as commander and quartermaster for the VFW & American Legion, served in the Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department, Civil Air Patrol, Holyoke Lions Club, Holyoke Masonic Lodge and as a hobby enjoyed ham radios.
He put up flags each morning for many locations including City Hall and was a regular attendant at First Christian Church. Dale also gave money to many organizations where needed. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Ralph L. Anderson Jr. and sisters Marybelle Williams and Bona Beck.
Surviving him are sister Marjorie B. Black of Ames, Iowa; brother Deane and Bijie Anderson of Holyoke; nieces Marilyn Schwarzkopf and Carol Meindl, Diana Lee Crystal and family of Scottsbluff, Neb., Elisa and Jim Wilson and family of Craig, Diana Lynn and Melvin Enabnit and family of Great Bend, Kan., Roxann and Merlin Enabnit and family of Toronto, Kan. and Marybelle Williams and daughters Patricia, Janie and Treasa; nephews Bob and Jean Beck and Richard and Judy Black; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service was Thursday, Sept. 10 at First Christian Church in Holyoke, with Pastor Lou Encinias officiating. Interment followed in Holyoke Memorial Park.
