Wilbur Kingman - September 18, 2009
Wilbur Hayward Kingman, age 85, of Holyoke, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 in Greeley.
Wilbur was born to Elmer H. and Rena (Shannon) Kingman on April 4, 1923 in Boulder. He was one of three children. Wilbur attended and graduated from Boulder High School in 1942.
He served in the Army in the 882nd Field Artillery Battalion from March 1944 until June 6, 1946. He then returned home to farm and was married to Beverly Snyder on May 3, 1952. He retired from farming in 1989, but continued to help his son Gerald until 2004.
During his later years, Wilbur enjoyed oil painting and pencil sketching until his health no longer permitted. He attended First Baptist Church of Holyoke.
Preceding him in death are his parents, brother William Gilbert, sister Anna Josephine and son Wilbur Glenn.
Surviving him are his wife Beverly, son Gerald and wife Kim Kingman of Holyoke, daughter Linda and husband Tim McClure of Louisville, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 22 at First Baptist Church, Holyoke, with Pastor Gordon Penfold officiating. Service concluded at the church. Interment will be in the Holyoke, Cemetery.
