Friends of the Library event takes members on literary journey

    “Reading is a discount ticket to everywhere” was the theme of this year’s salad luncheon, hosted by Friends of the Library Monday, Feb. 6, at Phillips County Museum.
    Celebrating the fact that books can take readers on a journey, guest speaker Darci Tomky took attendees along on an adventure by recapping her recent trip to central Europe with photos and fun travel facts. She pointed out that a book like “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” could transport readers to a castle in the Alps, “The Book Thief” could take them to World War II Germany or the Trapp family singers’ tale in “The Sound of Music” could whisk them away to Austria.
