Margaritaville event raises over $130,000

Phillips County Event Center in Holyoke transformed into a tropical paradise Saturday, Feb. 12, for the “Escape to Margaritaville” Legacy Event.

Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 12th annual event raised $130,280 with approximately 300 guests and more than 45 servers and workers.

Funds raised at the Legacy Event will go toward new equipment for Melissa Memorial Hospital plus scholarships for students pursuing medical degrees and MMHF operations.

“With COVID still causing issues and heartache in 2022 and a second event seven months after our 2021 MMHF ‘Denim & Diamonds’ event, the foundation is extremely grateful that we can be excited and proud of the 2022 event,” said MMHF executive director Nancy Colglazier. “MMHF expresses deep gratitude to our amazing MMH staff and community.”

Guests enjoyed signature Jimmy Buffett margaritas and a New York strip dinner capped with a luscious Key lime dessert.

The evening included silent and live auctions, an entertaining game and a dance.

During a special part of the live auction, four donors purchased four iPads and keyboards that were donated to the EMS department.

MMHF is appreciative for 21 local FFA students who helped clean up on Sunday.
