    Deaun Carpenter began work at Melissa Memorial Hospital Jan. 23 as the new family nurse practitioner.
    Conditional use applications for the proposed Williwaw Goddard Wind Farm were scheduled to be considered at a Phillips County Board of Adjustments hearing Feb. 8. The wind farm will be located approximately 6 miles southwest of Holyoke on the hills known as Fiddler and Goddard peaks.
    With months of practically no snow, many were thrilled to find several inches steadily coming down Friday, Feb. 3.

    George Dalton has started a new service with I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) Stix Inc., a confidential processing service that downloads and enters medical records information onto a memory stick for easy access to health care professionals.
    The National Volunteer Fire Council recently presented Lawrence “Sonny” Ruff, father of Sheila Gift of Holyoke, with the 2006 NVFC Volunteer Firefighter of the Year Award for his lifelong service and outstanding contributions to the volunteer fire service.
    HHS junior Shannon Bornhoft was a member of the Sterling High School 400 meter relay team which swam a state-qualifying time in the Feb. 1 dual with Greeley West.
    The Colorado Department of Transportation’s new 511 traveler information number is now available to all cellphone users, allowing easier access to statewide road and weather conditions and construction information.

Feb. 13, 1992

    Rev. Harold and Ruth Quarles have just joined the Holyoke Nazarene Church as Harold became the new minister for the congregation this past Sunday.
    Noting that his work schedule has become a conflict with his family life, Rick Hinck submitted his letter of resignation from the Holyoke Police Department last week.
    Jim Fay, highly sought-after speaker who is nationally known for his work in teacher and parent training, will be in Holyoke for two three-hour seminars Feb. 20. This educational program is being sponsored by the Holyoke Parent Teacher Association, in cooperation with Holyoke schools.
    Dr. Jon Braverman of Denver has informed Melissa Memorial Hospital officials that for personal reasons he will be discontinuing his ophthalmology clinics in Holyoke.

Feb. 9, 1967

    The office end of the Enterprise was moved to the new location on North Interocean last week, and the paper is out a day early this week so the shop end can be moved and put into operation before the push for next week’s issue begins.
    Postmaster F.B. Flanagan is scheduled to retire Feb. 28 after being the postmaster here for 22 and a half years.
    A public smorgasbord sponsored by the Holyoke Band Parents Association will be held Feb. 20 in the lunch room at the grade school. This will be the association’s major project this year to raise funds to send Holyoke High School band members to band camp next summer. In the past, several small fundraising projects have been held each year.

Feb. 12, 1942

    The entire nation went on “war time” schedule at 2 o’clock Monday morning, with all clocks and watches moved ahead one hour — the new schedule to last for the duration of the war emergency. Proponents of the measure have asserted that the advanced time would contribute to the nation’s available electric power supply by leaving off some of the demand peaks.
    T.G. Puryear, superintendent of Highline Electric Association, stated yesterday that energizing of 11 miles of lines of the rural electrification project will be done today. The lines to be energized at this time extend north from Holyoke.
    Because 4-H club work this year will deal largely with war emergency activities, many more Colorado rural boys and girls are expected to become members.
