Phillips County Players present Christmas play

Setting the stage for the holiday season, Phillips County Players put on the one-act play “’Twas the Night Before the Night Before Christmas” by Pat Cook at the Peerless Theatre on Dec. 3.

The characters in the show are in the process of rehearsing their skit for the annual Christmas performance, but things are not going well. The troupe, which happens to also be the city council, is known for its trouble working together. There’s a lawyer who is always objecting, a chef that is more focused on doughnuts than dialogue and a director who simply quit.

The high school volleyball coach who was called in to replace the director is frazzled by the fact that there is no script, no plan and apparently no talent. In the end, though, she hatches a brilliant plan to work with the actors’ abilities rather than against them.
