Shades of Bublé lights up a Saturday night in Holyoke

The Holyoke High School auditorium was the scene of a high energy performance last Saturday night, Feb. 18, as the Phillips County Arts Council presented Shades of Bublé, a six-piece tour de force, swingin’ and rockin’ their way through the music of Canadian singing star, Michael Bublé.
The show, created in New York City in 2015, was conceived as a showcase for the recordings of Bublé and, as a twist, would be performed by a male vocal trio.
Bublé launched his recording career in the United States in 2003 and has since sold over 30 million records worldwide. This has created an extensive catalog of songs as evidenced by the two-hour concert Saturday night, which included only songs recorded by Bublé.
In addition to the superb vocals and instrumental accompaniment, the trio added dance steps to many of the songs.
Shades of Bublé featured Ron DeStephano, Adam J. Rennie and Greg Kamp on vocals and an instrumental trio consisting of pianist Jason Wetzel, bassist Chris Agar and drummer Aaron Drescher.
The well-paced show allowed each singer to not only harmonize in the vocal trio but also take center stage as a soloist on several songs. In addition to the instrumental trio on stage, the group used some prerecorded backing tracks to accent the live performance.
The evening kicked off with Bublé’s show opener, “Feeling Good,” and the crowd of 183 music fans were in for a night of nonstop fun.
