After being vacant for more than a year, the athletic/activities director position at Holyoke JR/SR High School is being filled this year with the hiring of Corey Stumpf.

Originally from Iliff, Stumpf will be a full-time A.D., overseeing all aspects of athletics and activities that go on for the junior high and high school.

Holyoke went through the majority of the 2022-23 school year without an athletic director, with high school principal Angela Powell and superintendent Kyle Stumpf taking on the responsibilities.

Stumpf has been working with the administration throughout the summer to prepare for his new role.

“They have been helping me get familiar with everything happening and what they had all taken care of for me before I got on board,”he said. “I look forward to this upcoming year.”

Stumpf graduated from Caliche High School and later went on to the University of Northern Colorado, earning a bachelor’s degree in K-12 physical education.

Following his graduation from UNC, Stumpf became a teacher/coach at Wiggins School District. While at Wiggins, he taught elementary, middle school and high school P.E. and coached high school and middle school basketball. He also served as assistant middle school football coach for two years and head coach for one year. He was employed at Wiggins for eight years.

Stumpf has been married for eight years to his wife, Ashley, and the couple has two children, Trayce and Taytum.

Ashley Stumpf is an audiologist serving the Sterling and Brush areas, which she will continue to do, he said.
