Dragon volleyball fell on the road to Yuma in three sets Oct. 14 — 13-25, 13-25 and 10-25.
The Dragons dropped the game in straight sets without head coach Vanessa Tharp, who was absent due to her baby’s birth the day before.
Assistant coach Theresa Tharp noted Yuma’s superiority. “Yuma was so good that everything our setters put up, they blocked,” she said. “We tried changing it up a little bit to tipping, and they caught onto that.”
But she also emphasized that the team needs to prepare for a possible matchup later. “I hope that it gets them ready for districts,” she said. “We’ll probably have to come up against them at some point.”
She added that the game was a definite experience builder for the girls, who lacked energy on an off-day from school. “It wasn’t their regular routine,” Tharp said.
