Safety, stability and security

Article Image Alt Text

Safety. Stability. Security. These are the words you will hear advertised describing financial institutions or investment houses. They wish to instill in you the pretense that your money is safe with them — “Own a piece of the rock,” as one company advertised many years ago. Even if history tells us that no one can assure that your money will grow faster than inflation and other global economic factors, they attempt to sell you on safety, stability and security.

They advertise in this way because most of us crave at least some measure of these qualities in virtually everything, but especially with our money. Yet true stability is elusive and hard to find. Solomon suggests that genuine stability is derived from only one source.

First, Solomon tells us where stability does NOT come from — “Wickedness never brings stability.” When you live a life of deceit and plotting evil and breaking the laws of God and the laws of the land, you will never find stability and security in your life. Those in this life who have obtained wealth through illegal means may seem at times to have it all, but they are not secure. They are always looking over their shoulder for those who may have caught up to their unlawful deeds, or for those who would attempt to harm them and steal the wealth that they have stolen.

True wealth is not worrying about the “stuff” of this life. True wealth can be had by anyone no matter how much money they have in the bank. True wealth is a certainty that your needs will be met. The wicked will never be wealthy in that regard, and they will never have the security that comes from peace of mind and pureness of heart.
