60th annual Honor Band performs in Holyoke
On Monday, Jan. 30, Holyoke School District Re-1J hosted the 60th annual Honor Band. One hundred forty-three student musicians representing 14 area schools were selected through an audition process and band director recommendation.
Guest clinician for the 69-member High School Honor Band was Dave Williams from Manitou Springs High School. Risa Lamorie served as the guest clinician for the 74-member Junior High Honor Band.
Students rehearsed throughout the day and presented a culminating concert to close out the day’s festivities. Schools represented included ones from Holyoke, Akron, Merino, Wiggins, Otis, Fleming, Julesburg, Fort Morgan, Sterling, Yuma, Wray, Peetz and Haxtun. Haxtun and Holyoke Band students are under the direction of Pat Wiebers.
