HHS students qualify for state in FBLA competition

Fifty-seven Holyoke Future Business Leaders traveled to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, on Thursday, Feb. 2, where they competed against almost 500 students for top honors to qualify for state competition. While there, members attended an opening session, competed in live presentations and attended workshops – including “Speed Dating Interviews” put on by Ben Kleve, and “How to Build Your Leadership,” put on by Tayla Martin, both District 4 officers.

At the completion of workshops and competitions, members enjoyed listening to a keynote speaker before the awards. The top 10 in each category were recognized, with members placing in the top four or five qualifying for State FBLA on April 5-7 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center near Denver. The following members placed in the top four or five, and qualified for State:

Placing first were Piper McConachie – Accounting II, Teagan Martin – Computer Applications, Summer Martin – Economics, Ben Kleve – Intro. to Business Concepts, Leah Struckmeyer – Intro. to Marketing Concepts and Intro. to Info. Processing, Madi Clapper – Journalism, and Sabryn Burris – Word Processing.

Placing second were Erin Andersen – Accounting I; Ethan Schneller – Accounting II; Savannah Vermeulen – Agribusiness and Business Law; Ivan Valenzuela, Luke Roberts and Caiden Krueger – E-Business; Madi Clapper – Intro. to Marketing Concepts; Lucinda Mares – Intro. to Parliamentary Pro; Addie Goldenstein – Organizational Leadership; and Erin Andersen – Word Processing.

Placing third were Sabryn Burris – Accounting I; Elyce Sisseck, Clover Adler and Aleida Millan – Broadcast Journalism; Addie Goldenstein – Business Communications; Ben Kleve – Business Law; Alma Alejandre and Vianey Jimenez – Digital Animation; Isabelle Kropp, Courtlyn Kinnie and Jersie Gipson – Graphic Design; Gracelyn Bahnsen – Intro. to Business Procedures; Clover Adler – Word Processing; Caden Sporhase – Business Law; and Vianey Jimenez – Intro. to Business Procedures.
