17 compete in FFA chapter speaking contest

Last Tuesday, Nov. 30, the Holyoke FFA chapter held its chapter speaking contest, in which 17 HHS FFA members competed.

Leah Struckmeyer and Lucinda Mares won gold in Creed Speaking and will be going to districts Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. Ciara Peterson, Ben Kleve and Fatima Nuñez earned silver. Ava Koberstein, Nathaly Espinal, Nicole Schlachter and Layna Wear won bronze.

Three students competed in Extemporaneous Speaking. Max Kleve and Kai Siep earned gold and will be going to districts in March. Chance Lindstrom earned silver.

In Prepared Public Speaking, Tayla Martin and Jimena Nuñez secured their spots in districts in March by earning gold. Karlie Martin and Katelyn Kropp earned silver, and Tyson Mosenteen bronze.
