Angus show comes to pavilion
Colorado Junior Angus Association’s Golden Trend Show is being held for the first time in Holyoke at the Bank of Colorado Pavilion this weekend, June 1-2.
The event will include contests and educational seminars Saturday and a cattle show Sunday. Although entry in the contests and show is limited to CJAA members, co-organizer Brent Vieselmeyer said the public is welcome to attend all of the activities both days, except the member banquet Saturday.
Check-in will take place Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., to be followed immediately by member contests. Categories for competition include public speaking, photography and beef science posters.
Bobby Strecker of American Breeders Service will lead a seminar Saturday afternoon concerning the artificial insemination of cattle, and Dr. Jeff Tharp of Holyoke Veterinary Service will give attendees the chance to examine bull semen under a microscope. Vieselmeyer will also lead a session about ethanol production, with materials provided by the Colorado Corn Board.
The CJAA member dinner will start at 6 p.m. The program includes the organization’s annual meeting, officer elections and the presentation of awards.
