Bruce Rosenbach named Conservationist of the Year

    Bruce Rosenbach was awarded the 2017 Conservationist of the Year honor at the 71st annual meeting of the Haxtun Conservation District Thursday, Nov. 17, at Phillips County Event Center in Holyoke.
    Rosenbach was recognized for his continual improvement of wildlife habitat in the county. He has been instrumental in the Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Pheasants Forever Corners for Conservation program. Currently, 212 sprinkler corners totaling 1,665 acres are enrolled.
    Additionally, Rosenbach contacted landowners to promote the Environmental Quality Incentives Program monarch butterfly habitat program that covered 15 tracts with 971 acres. He continues to identify sprinkler corners and playas that could be converted to wildlife habitat.
    A large crowd attended the annual meeting which featured meteorologist Don Day of Cheyenne, Wyoming, who gave an informative and educational presentation on weather patterns, methods of forecasting and his forecast for 2018.
