Bryant joins MMH optometry

For most of his 40-plus years as an optometrist, John Bryant, O.D., served patients through his multiple successful practices in and around Denver.
But even though he’s well-settled in the Centennial state, spending time in Holyoke has been something of a homecoming for the doctor, who was raised in Medina, North Dakota — a farming community of about 300 people.
“It’s what I grew up with. Around the people here, I feel like I’m back home,” he said.
Bryant saw his first patient at Holyoke Family Eye Care at MMH Monday, Jan. 7. He will be seeing patients between eight and 10 days per month until Alexandra Gada, O.D., joins the staff as a full-time optometrist this summer.
Bryant received his doctorate in optometry from Pacific University in 1973 as part of a professional graduate program financed by the U.S. military. He worked at Army medical facilities in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Hawaii and Aurora, before leaving and starting a private practice in 1979.
