City adopts 2021 budget
Holyoke City Council members adopted the budget for 2021 at a special meeting Dec. 10. It totals $10,007,094 in appropriations.
The budget includes:
General Fund $5,597,484
Utility Fund $4,049,130
Sale of Heginbotham Land Fund $400
Equipment Replacement Fund $41,500
Library Land Fund $518
Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund $3,295
Fire Pension Fund $10,892
Massman Memorial Fund $210
Cem White/Leeper Memorial Fund $120
LeBlanc Estate Fund $3,545
Capital Reserve Fund $300,000
Total Approp $10,007,094
The general fund is up $1,873,831 from last year due to the Holyoke Community Childcare Initiative building being taken into consideration in the budget. The city will own the building for the first 10 years when it is built.
Council members also certified a levy of 21.802 mills, including 21.2 to the general fund, 0.6 to volunteer firefighting pensions, and 0.002 to refunds and abatements.
The city’s total assessed value for 2020 is $17,320,680, and city mills equate to $377,590.824, not including $34.641 for refunds and abatements.
