Countdown’s over for the county fair

    By the time you’re reading this, the 2019 Phillips County Fair will already be underway. Much is packed into the July 23-28 Bushels of Fun fair. To help make sure you don’t miss any remaining events, a schedule for the rest of the week follows:
    — Wednesday, July 24: Horse show/gymkhana, 9 a.m.; entry of open class projects, 1-6 p.m.; beer garden opens and Thrashers Rocky Mountain oyster dinner, 5:30 p.m.; ranch rodeo, 6 p.m.; Thrashers cornhole tournament check-in, 8:30 p.m.
    — Thursday, July 25: Rabbit and poultry show, 8:45 a.m.; farm mechanics, 1 p.m.; Dutch oven cook-off, 2 p.m.; goat and dairy cow show, followed by catch-it goat contest and then swine judging, 4 p.m.; beer garden, 4 p.m.; barrel racing, 6 p.m.
    —  Friday, July 26: Beef judging and exhibit building opens, 9 a.m.; American Ninja Warrior obstacle course, noon-8 p.m.; sheep judging, horseshoe pitching, model rocket expo, 1 p.m.; petting zoo, 3-7 p.m.; beer garden, 3 p.m.; parade of champions and press time, followed by rabbit bingo and then chicken bingo, 4 p.m.; barbecue, 5 p.m.; Heartland Pulling tractor and truck pull, 7 p.m., followed by music in the beer garden.
    — Saturday, July 27: Parade and exhibit building opens, 10 a.m.; Orphan Grain Train brat feed, 11 a.m.; petting zoo, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; American Ninja Warrior obstacle course, noon-8 p.m.; beer garden, noon; cow patty bingo, 12:30 p.m.; kids games, salsa contest, horseshoe pitching and round robin competition, 1 p.m.; junior livestock sale, 2:30 p.m.; Bulls Gone Wild!, 7 p.m.; music in the beer garden, 9:30 p.m.
    — Sunday, July 28: community church service, 9 a.m.; premium payout, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
