Cross Eyed Cow allows for original frozen concoctions

“All I had was a dream and imagination,” said Jen Hayes, owner of the new Cross Eyed Cow frozen yogurt shop in Olde Holyoke Square. “God put all the pieces together!”

A department of Inklings & More, the frozen yogurt (or “froyo”) shop occupies the space in the vendor’s market that was previously Bemis Drug in the northeast corner of Olde Holyoke Square. “I love the feel that frozen yogurt brings back to the building,” said Hayes.

Hayes said she has wanted to run an ice cream shop since she was 5 years old — just as she had wanted to run a bookstore since childhood as well. While not quite ice cream, the delicious soft-serve treat is pretty darn close.

With four flavors of froyo, two flavors of non-dairy sorbet, 18 toppings from gummy worms to granola plus a variety of syrups, the flavor combinations are endless. “The customer should feel like they are No. 1,” said Hayes. Whether it’s a chocolate explosion or a fruity blast, a mock cinnamon roll or a s’more, there’s something for any flavor preference.

The very name “Cross Eyed Cow” is a play on the countless combinations of dairy treats available.

The treat is do-it-yourself, allowing the customer total control over what flavors and toppings they want to mix and match.
