FBLA members launch project to support local businesses

Holyoke FBLA members Hannah Lindholm, Jimena Nuñez and Fatima Nuñez are leading an American Enterprise project designed to encourage people to shop locally.

At a Jan. 26 meeting of Holyoke Chamber of Commerce members, the team explained how they’d like to educate the community on shopping locally.

They’ve already presented to fifth and sixth grade students and junior highers, and on Nov. 15, 2021, which is American Enterprise Day, they had a student essay contest. Eighth grader Vianey Jimenez was the winner.

The team will be collecting data to help them in their project, and they’ll be distributing a survey to community members soon. They’re also planning to hand out stickers or other small items that will remind people to shop locally.
